The road to success is filled with failures

Shermain-Melton Cisco Certification History.png

In my Corporate job, I'm a Senior Infrastructure Engineer.  I lead a team of engineers based in the US and Latin America.  During my career, I studied for, passed, and failed many certification exams.  I took my first Cisco exam back in 2009.  Seven months later I took my second test and failed it.

I remember that day.  After I took the test and was given the printout of my results, I went to my car and asked myself if this was really what I wanted to do.

I could've given up.  I could've said, "This is too hard, I'm not smart enough for this."

After failing the first test, I reattempted it a week later and passed it.  It was a great feeling.

In total, I made 13 attempts.  I passed 7 exams and failed 6 of them.  I have almost failed more than I have succeeded.

I failed, got back up, and tried again.  My confidence increased after both failing and succeeding.

Where are you failing?  Are you embracing it or running away from it?

I encourage you to go fail at something and learn from it.  Do it today.  You can do it.

God bless you.

Shermain.
