Till your soil
As a child, I was fascinated by plants and how they grew. As an adult, I am fascinated by great leaders and how they continually grow.
I have a dream of creating an oasis in the backyard of my home - complete with grass, trees, shrubs, and a garden. I decided that I would do it myself instead of paying someone.
I decided that I would start with the grass. Before putting the seed down, I needed to prepare the soil. If the soil is not properly prepared, the seed will not germinate and grow. It will be eaten by birds or blow away.
Tilling the soil breaks up the dry crust on the surface, allowing air, nutrients, and water to get deeper into the ground. This makes it easier for new seeds to sprout and for their roots to grow and thrive.
Where do you need to till in your life?
When we till in our lives, it allows us to break up the dry crust. The dry crust refers to the things that are holding us back—the fears, insecurities, and doubts.
It can be the job that zaps our joy, the unhealthy relationship, or the negative people, places, and activities. Dry crust started as dirt that could've been washed off if caught early; however, now it has many layers and even seems normal to us.
It doesn't have to be this way.
What would your world be like if you decided to chip away the dry crust so that your nutrients can come in?
Your nutrients might be time spent with family, time spent in prayer, or even time doing nothing. Whatever it is that brings you joy.
What if you decided to get rid of one of the things that zap your joy and to let in one thing that fills you with joy? What if you continued to do this for a week or a month?
How would your world change? How would the world of people you love and trust change?
It all starts with a bit of tilling.
Start tilling today.
God bless you.
Love.
