Do you need to pull some weeds?

I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and here, after it rains, you're almost always guaranteed to get some weeds. If you leave them unchecked, they will grow out of control, and you'll have a bigger problem on your hands.

Once they become out of control, you need to invest more time and energy into getting rid of them—much more than if you'd dealt with them when they were small.

Webster's definition of a weed is:

"A plant that is not valued where it is growing and is usually of vigorous growth, especially one that tends to overgrow or choke out more desirable plants."

We allow all kinds of weeds to grow and become out of control in our lives. They choke out what we want, and in some cases, they have been with us so long that we don't see them anymore.

Your weeds could be getting in the way of:

  • New or improved relationships

  • That dream you had at six years old

  • New opportunities

  • Saying yes to yourself

  • That thing you say you want but haven't fully committed to

  • Your joy and happiness

Take a moment right now and think about the weeds in your life.

Are they growing strong, but either not growing in the right place or stopping other things from growing?

What's getting in the way of you cutting back your weeds?

What are your weeds costing you and the people you love and trust?

How are they getting in the way of your vision?

What if you ignore them and let them continue to grow?

What are your weeds?

Sit with this for a moment.

What if you decided to either cut back or pull up a weed so that you have room to plant a new seed?

What will your new seed be?

Is it spending more time with family? Maybe it's related to your faith, health, or your vision for your team? How about that dream you had a long time ago that you've been making excuses about doing?

What can come from a single seed? How will you water and fertilize it?

I'm sure you get it, but let me summarize.

Your seed is what you want (own it),

the water and fertilizer help your seed grow,

the weeds are what's getting in the way.

I encourage you to go pull some weeds and plant some seeds for your future.

God bless you.

Shermain
