I'm debt-free and a self-made millionaire.
Most people think that it's taboo or wrong to discuss finances.
The truth is, not discussing finances creates fear, shame, and hiding.
This month, November 2021, I ran the numbers and discovered that I'm debt-free and a self-made millionaire.
There was no trust fund, annuity, or inheritance.
It was simple but not easy. It is one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life.
My journey required courage, faith, discipline, strategy, execution, commitment, and sacrifice.
Lots of people helped me get here.
There were days where I was exhausted.
There were days that I wondered if it would be worth it.
There were days when I wanted to give up.
I even created a story that I could tell people if I chose to give up so that they would feel sorry for me. I could try and force other people to make me feel better about giving up. Maybe you've done this too?
I had a discussion with a new client recently. He wants to create a life where he is leading courageously in his finances and, in the process, building long-term financial strength.
He's beginning his new journey. Where are you at with yours?
If you want to start to be more courageous in your finances, here are four things you can do:
1. Envision where you want to be financially in your life. Maybe you have a new house or car, or perhaps you've relocated or changed jobs. Imagine you're already there and answer these questions:
- How much money are you making, saving, and giving?
- What type of home do you own, and what are you driving?
- Are you smiling more? What is your stress level?
- What else is different?
2. Make the dream you just created a goal by adding a date to it.
3. Find a community that includes people that are headed towards or have already been where you want to go. I followed Dave Ramsey during much of my journey.
4. Join our 6-month Courage to Impact group Campfire beginning on January 3rd, 2022. Within that journey, we will be focusing on financial courage for 30 days. If you want support to thrive in your finances, this is for you. Reach out to learn more.
Your impact is waiting for you to go get it.
Be courageous.
God bless.
Shermain.
