How Much Is Overthinking Costing You?
Your Success Is Being Held Back by One Thing…
Your unwillingness to own your truth and speak it boldly.
In a world of generic leadership and social media sound bites, real influence, confidence, and freedom come from stepping fully into who you are—without apology.
Owning your truth isn’t just about self-expression. It’s the foundation for leadership, building a world-class business, and becoming unshakable in who you are.
Here’s how owning your truth changes everything:
Influence – When you own your truth, people trust you, follow you, and want to be led by you.
Confidence – Fully embodying who you are makes you magnetic, commands rooms, and leaves a lasting impact.
Trust – Being real and direct earns deep respect from employees, clients, and your board.
Decision-making – No more second-guessing or playing politics. You make bold, aligned decisions that drive results.
Top talent – The best people want to work for leaders who are clear, authentic, and committed to something bigger than themselves.
Owning your truth might feel risky in the short term. But in the long run, it pays dividends.
How do I know? I've lived both sides of this journey.
I’m Shermain Melton, author of the upcoming book, The Loneliness of the African American Leader: Navigating Isolation in the Pursuit of Courage, Influence, and Change.
I am Black, Gay, and Christian. And for most of my life, I hid parts of myself to fit in.
I sometimes wondered if God created me as a joke—giving me a heart so big it could love everyone, while leaving me to experience the pain of not belonging anywhere.
I was once told I couldn’t sit next to someone at church because of the color of my skin.
I came from poverty. I felt lost. I felt alone. And then, I made a choice—to cultivate the courage to create a new destiny and identity for myself.
Now, I serve and teach what I wish I had growing up.
I help leaders own their truth, increase their visibility, and build unstoppable confidence – because when you stop hiding, you become truly powerful.
If you’re ready to step fully into who you are, you don’t have to do it alone.
I’ve built a community where you can belong, be supported, be accountable, and cultivate the courage to create the impact you were meant to have.
Are you ready? Let’s talk.
